If you would like to soften signs of facial aging and achieve a fresh new look without surgery, a liquid facelift may be the right option for you. A liquid facelift is a quick, easy procedure that will leave your skin looking radiant and youthful. But what exactly is a liquid facelift?
What is a liquid facelift?
A liquid facelift is a non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedure that contours and lifts the face using a combination of cosmetic injectables. It is a popular alternative to a surgical facelift, as it corrects midface volume loss which is often the result of factors such as aging and weight loss. A liquid facelift reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and creases, and volumizes the cheeks.
Facial aging is characterized by loss of tone and elasticity in facial skin, along with a reduction in the fatty layer. These changes cause wrinkles and fine lines to develop, along with prominent folds and creases around the nose and mouth. Aging also depletes collagen and elastin in the skin, which are key proteins the skin needs to remain supple and elastic.
A liquid facelift can be customized to satisfy the unique needs and aesthetic concerns of each patient. When doing a liquid facelift the physician will assess the symmetry of the patient’s face, and place the cosmetic injectables strategically, in order to create fullness, rebalance facial contours, and restore a youthful glow.
What can a liquid facelift fix?
A liquid facelift can restore volume to the face using dermal fillers such as Juvederm Voluma. Juvederm Voluma is FDA approved for correcting age-related volume loss in the cheeks, and when injected it instantly plumps the cheeks. Juvederm Voluma is a hyaluronic acid filler that is made using patented Vycross technology, which creates a smoother, more consistent gel that delivers long-lasting results. Juvederm Voluma lifts and contours the cheeks, and the results can last up to 2 years.
Nasolabial folds and marionette lines can also be treated during a liquid facelift. Nasolabial folds run from either side of the nose to the corners of the mouth, while marionette lines run from the corners of the mouth downward. Juvederm XC is an excellent option for smoothing these facial lines and folds.
Dermal fillers can also enhance the lips, whether they have lost volume as a result of age, or are just genetically thin. Here again, Juvederm has an excellent product for the lips, namely, Juvederm Volbella. Juvederm Volbella is specially designed to plump the lips, and can also fill in perioral rhytids, which are the fine lines around the mouth.
Botox is used successfully to treat forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet. These dynamic wrinkles are caused by repetitive muscle movement and are more responsive to botox because Botox works by relaxing the underlying muscles. Because the muscles no longer contract, the wrinkles in the overlying skin eventually soften. The effects of botox last 3-6 months.
After a liquid facelift, most patients are able to return to their normal activities almost immediately, as there is little to no downtime.
Benefits of a liquid facelift
A liquid facelift provides quick facial rejuvenation results, without downtime. It is a minimally invasive procedure that requires no anesthesia and no incisions. A liquid facelift can reverse early signs of aging and deliver beautiful, natural-looking results for the right candidate.
Are you a good candidate for a liquid facelift?
Whether or not a liquid facelift is a right option for you will depend on where you are in the aging process. It’s important to discuss the options with your doctor, to determine if a liquid facelift will give you the results you are looking for.
A liquid facelift is not the right procedure for everyone, as it is not very effective for addressing advanced signs of aging. For example, it won’t correct issues such as sagging jowls or loose skin on the neck.
If you would like to ‘turn back the clock’ and look and feel younger without going under the knife, you may be a good candidate for a liquid facelift.
