Botox vs. Fillers: Which is best for me?

Injectable fillers have become the new ‘go-to’ anti-aging alternative within the last decade. People like the fact that they are minimally invasive, the treatment time is short, and so is the downtime. Botox remains the number one choice among injectable treatments, but dermal fillers are also quite popular. But how do you decide between botox vs fillers, and which is best for you.

Although botox and dermal fillers are categorized as injectable fillers, it’s important to recognize that they work differently, and they are used in different areas (click here).

Botox vs Fillers
Botox is a neurotoxin, and it works by relaxing the muscles that cause specific fine lines and wrinkles. Botox prevents the muscle contractions that would normally leadto the formation of wrinkles. It is typically used on forehead lines, crow’s feet, and frown lines.

Dermal fillers are made from a variety of materials, and they add volume to the face by filling in the lines and wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid is the ingredient used in popular dermal fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm.

Which is best for you?
The best injectable for you will depend on the areas in which you have wrinkles. If you have expression lines on the forehead that form when you frown or squint, botox can reduce those for you.

However, if you have lines that have nothing to do with muscle movement then dermal fillers are recommended. These include laugh lines around the corner of the mouth, as well as lip lines.

Additionally, there may be times when you need a combination of botox and dermal fillers for optimal facial rejuvenation.
