Nose Reshaping Without Surgery is Possible, and Effective

Some individuals that are unhappy with how their nose looks opt to adjust the shape and size with rhinoplasty (read more). Nose reshaping has traditionally been a surgical procedure, but is now being performed without surgery.  This is commonly referred to as injectable rhinoplasty, as it involves the use of dermal fillers. This article takes a closer look at the procedure, to determine how effective and long lasting it is.

Non-surgical rhinoplasty is a less invasive procedure that is recommended for people that would like to reshape their nose, but do not require full rhinoplasty. It can correct contour irregularities by making a curved nose appear straighter, or reducing a hump on the bridge of the nose.

How does injectable rhinoplasty work?

Radiesse and Restylane are two of the dermal fillers often used for injectable rhinoplasty. Aesthetic cream is placed on the nose to numb the skin, and then the dermal filler is injected using tiny needles. The procedure takes about 15 minutes to perform.

Post op

Traditional rhinoplasty has an average recovery time of up to 2 weeks, and patients also experience some bruising and swelling after surgery. Nose reshaping is quicker and less time consuming.

Nose reshaping without surgery can last for up to one year, it all depends on the type of dermal fillers used. Fillers like Restylane that are derived from hyaluronic acid last for about 6 months, while Radiesse, which is derived from calcium hydroxyapatite can last up to 1 year.  Since non-surgical rhinoplasty is a temporary solution touch-ups are required.
