How Much Does Botox Cost?

Do you have small lines on your forehead or around your eyes that you would like to get rid of?   Botox may be the answer for you because it’s a popular anti-aging treatment that is specially designed to treat pesky dynamic wrinkles.  But how much does botox cost?

What Is Botox?

Botox or botulinum toxin A is a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium clostridium botulinum.  Botox is an anti-wrinkle injectable treatment that softens the appearance of dynamic wrinkles that develop due to repeated muscle movements such as frowning, squinting, and laughing.   It is mostly used for frown lines, forehead wrinkles, and crow’s feet.

When botox is injected into the facial muscles it blocks the nerve signals that cause the muscles to contract, and as the muscles relax the wrinkles soften.

How Much Does Botox Cost?

Botox is measured in units, and the price typically ranges from $10 to $15 per unit.  The cost of botox will therefore depend on the number of units needed.   The price of botox also varies based on the experience and qualifications of the injector, geographic location of the practice, and the aesthetic goals of the patient.

The FDA recommends a total dose of 20 units of botox for forehead lines, and 40 units for forehead lines and frown lines combined.  It generally takes about 24 units of botox to treat crow’s feet.   When priced per area, botox usually costs between $200 and $360.

Since there are several factors to consider, the best way to know how much your botox treatment will cost is to schedule a consultation with an experienced botox provider near you.
