Cellfina is a minimally invasive treatment that is proven to treat cellulite dimples, which are usually seen on the surface of the skin. Cellfina is very effective, because its treats the structural cause of cellulite, which are the connective bands that tether the skin to the tissue. The connective bands are interwoven throughout the fat layer, and pull down on the skin to create the dimples.
Cellfina has a suction that pulls in and stretches the skin, and then breaks up the connective bands. When the bands are released the skin becomes smoother and tighter.
Are Cellfina results permanent, or is maintenance required
In clinical tests carried out with Cellfina the results achieved lasted for 3 years. Cellfina is therefore FDA approved to reduce the appearance of cellulite for the same period. Although Cellfina is considered a long term solution, medical researchers do not yet know how long the results of the procedure will last.
For now, patients are very satisfied with the results achieved with Cellfina, as many continue to see results even 6 months after treatment. Some physicians believe that since Cellfina treats the underlying connective bands, those bands won’t be a problem in the future. However, dimples that were not treated may start to show with weight gain.
