How Many Botox Treatments Do I Need To See Results?

Have you decided to try botox cosmetic treatment, but you’re curious to find out how many treatments you need to see results. The answer may not be as simple as you think, because each patient is unique, so the expected results won’t be the same for everyone.

How botox works

Botox is a neuromodulator, so it works by relaxing the muscles. Since the muscles are no longer able to contract after botox injections, the wrinkles in the overlying skin soften and become less noticeable. Botox is commonly used to treat crow’s feet (wrinkles at the corner of the eyes), glabella lines (vertical lines between the brows), and forehead creases.

Botox is a temporary fix for wrinkles that typically lasts 3-4 months. After that time the muscles will gradually start contracting again, and the wrinkles will return in time. Repeat injections will therefore be necessary to keep the face wrinkle-free.

How Many Botox Treatments Do you need to see results?

Most patients will notice some results after only one botox treatment, but it takes nearly 2-4 days for the effects to set in. However, depending on the degree of aging, additional treatments may be needed. Clients that have deeper wrinkles are likely to need 2-3 treatments before optimal results can be seen. The physician will make an assessment after the first treatment, to determine if additional botox injections are needed to achieve the desired results (learn more).
