How Much Does Botox Cost?

Although botox is such a popular anti-wrinkle treatment, many people don’t actually know a lot about it.  That’s why it is advisable to have a consultation with your provider before getting botox.  It is the ideal opportunity to find out how botox works, what the results will be, and most importantly – how much does botox cost.

Fast facts about botox

  • What is it? Botox (botulinum toxin type A) is an FDA approved treatment for dynamic wrinkles. Dynamic wrinkles form as a result of repetitive muscle movements such as frowning and squinting, which results in frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet.
  • How does it work?  Botox prevents the signal from the nerve cells from reaching the muscles, so the injected muscles won’t contract.   This causes the overlying wrinkles to soften.
  • When will I see results? The results of botox are not immediate.  It takes approximately 5-7 days for the effects to be seen.

How Much Does Botox Cost?

The cost of botox varies, as it depends on the areas being treated, and the amount of botox units required.

The average cost for botox treatment is approximately $550.  Some practices charge a flat rate for each botox injection, while others charge by the number of units used per treatment.  It is therefore important to clarify the cost before having the treatment done.

A unit of botox costs between $10-$20, and patients may need anywhere from 6-20 units per treatment area.  Larger areas, like the forehead, are typically more expensive to treat, because they need more units.
