Is Vein Treatment Permanent?

Are you distressed by your varicose/spider veins and would like to banish them for good. There are several options available for treating these vine-like growths, and they typically work by sealing off the abnormal vein, and allowing blood to be rerouted to other veins. But is vein treatment permanent.

Types of Vein Treatment
Sclerotherapy and Veinwave therapyare two of the most common vein treatments available. Sclerotherapy is generally used to treat varicose veins, while Veinwave is especially effective for treating smaller spider veins on the face and body.

With sclerotherapy, a sclerosing solution is injected into the vein and it irritates the vein, causing it to collapse and eventually disappear from view. Veinwave uses a process known as thermocoagulation to treat veins. This involves using radiofrequency energy administeredthrough a fine, thin needle, to damage the vein. Veinwave is ideal for treating tiny veins that can’t be treated with sclerotherapy.

Is vein treatment permanent?
Vein treatment is permanent because once a vein is treated it does not reopen.Sclerotherapy usually requires a series of 3-5 treatments, and when these sessions are complete, the treated veins are gone for good. Similarly, Veinwave will successfully get rid of spider veins after the recommended number of sessions.

That said, patients that are genetically pre-disposed to vein problems may develop new spider veins or varicose veins over time, and these will have to be treated as needed. So while veins may pop up again, they are not the same veins as before.
